Academically Talented Students

We welcome families that are looking for challenging academic opportunities in order to meet the educational needs of their children. Each student will have an Individualized Learning Plan. Students interested in grade acceleration will be prepared to enter secondary school at a higher grade level. Clear pathways for such acceleration will be laid out in collaboration with receiving school districts.

Gifted and Talented Students

"The term gifted and talented student means children and youths who give evidence of higher performance capability in such areas as intellectual, creative, artistic, or leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who require services or activities not ordinarily provided by the schools in order to develop such capabilities fully."

Exceptionally Capable Learners

"Exceptionally capable learners are children who progress in learning at a significantly faster pace than do other children of the same age...Beginning in early childhood, their optimal development requires differentiated educational experiences, both of a general nature and, increasingly over time, targeting those domains in which they demonstrate the capacity for high levels of performance. Such differentiated educational experiences consist of adjustments in the level, depth, and pacing of curriculum..."

Myths about Gifted Education

“Gifted students will do fine on their own.” “Gifted programs are elitist.”

"These and other myths prevent our country from appropriately educating millions of advanced students. NAGC compiled a list of the most prevalent myths in gifted education with evidence rebutting each of them." Click image for myths.

Engaging Students

"Is America ignoring excellence? Newspaper headlines proclaim that our nation’s schools are producing weak students who lag behind age-peers in other countries. Meanwhile, there is a quieter story that’s been kept in the dark—but is just as important to our country’s future. In every state, in every school, in huge cities, and in tiny farm communities, students are ready for much more challenge than the system provides." Click image for free PDF book.

Engaging Students

"With all the talk of failing schools these days, we forget that schools can fail their brightest students, too...In Genius Denied, Jan and Bob Davidson describe the 'quiet crisis' in education: gifted students spending their days in classrooms learning little beyond how to cope with boredom as they “relearn” material they’ve already mastered years before. This lack of challenge leads to frustration, underachievement, and even failure. Some gifted students become severely depressed...The squandering of these bright young minds is a national tragedy.
