Offering a World of Opportunities at Your Doorstep

What Makes Us Unique?

The G.L.O.B.E. School, designed for a diverse group of academically talented students, will empower them to become active global citizens. Students will develop global perspectives and renaissance thinking through an arts-infused, multidisciplinary approach to inquiry-based learning. Caring teachers with high levels of expertise collaborate as a team, mentoring students as they develop a deep understanding of themselves and the world around them. Students take on the role of apprentices, applying patient problem-solving techniques to engaging projects. Through this process, students acquire the dispositions found in multiple disciplines. They learn to think as linguists, athletes, farmers, health practitioners, authors, artists, historians, scientists, and mathematicians. Service learning projects move the students' focus beyond themselves and beyond the classroom. Students acquire proficiency in at least two languages through immersion instruction: classes are offered half the day in Mandarin Chinese and half the day in English. The Chinese portion of the day is divided into two blocks: Chinese Language Arts and Chinese Across the Curriculum. The curriculum components taught in Chinese include Healthy Living (PE, Health, Gardening, and Outdoor Education) and the Arts (Dance, Music, Theater, and Visual Arts). The English portion of the day is divided into two integrated blocks: Renaissance Humanities (English Language Arts, the Social Sciences, and the Arts) and Renaissance STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math). The culminating opportunity is a trip to a Chinese-speaking country for students completing 6th grade. Students will have their unique needs addressed through Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs). ILPs also include accommodations and family-based services for English language learners (ELLs). After school programs will provide opportunities to become multilingual by adding a third language or supporting another language spoken at home.
